A History of Excellence
Johnston and Daniel was established in 1950, and became a division of Royal LePage Real Estate Services Ltd. in 1994.

Over the years, Johnston & Daniel has served generations of Toronto’s most respected families well. By offering caring, intuitive service and building long-term relationships with our clients, we’ve become the most trusted name in Toronto real estate.

A Forward-Thinking Approach
In the early 1950s, founders Robert Johnston and Eggerton Daniel had an interesting idea: hire women to sell homes. It was a revolutionary approach in the post-war era, when real estate was a predominantly male bastion and women stayed at home.

But they weren’t looking to work with just any women; their unique approach was to hire the elegant ladies who lived in the very areas in which Johnston & Daniel were most interested in selling homes. And why not? These were the smart, often well-educated women who moved in Toronto’s “society” circles, were looking for a meaningful way to occupy their time, and had the right connections to make the Johnston & Daniel Real Estate company a success.

This initiative was immediately accepted by a number of female sales representatives who lived in Rosedale, Moore Park, Forest Hill and Lawrence Park. As a result, the Johnston & Daniel name quickly became the most sought-after real estate brand for the best homes in Toronto’s premiere neighbourhoods - and has remained so to this day. Our name, our distinctive shield-shaped sign, and our Globe & Mail classified advertisements continue to confer elegance and prestige.

Jaime Gairdner, took over the helm of J&D from his Uncle in the 1970’s. Jaime successfully ran and expanded the firm until its merger with Royal LePage in 1994. With the merger, two very powerful brands were combined to form the powerhouse Johnston & Daniel Division, Royal LePage R.E.S. Ltd, Brokerage.

INTERNET MARKETING: J&D provides its salespeople with a comprehensive marketing strategy to ensure listings get maximum exposure. Internet marketing includes the J&D corporate site, the Royal LePage corporate site, the Realtor.ca site, social media and possible syndication with in excess of 150 sales representative websites. 

PREMIUM ADVERTISING EXPOSURE: J&D holds one of the most prominent positions in the Friday Globe and Mail real estate section. Through this section, J&D listings reach a wide audience of prospective buyers both through print and on online initiative. 

FINANCIAL STABILITY: J&D has exemplary financial strength relative to other brokerages, as it is corporately owned brokerage within the Brookfield Group of Companies. RELOCATION SERVICES: J&D provides relocation services to its clients through Royal LePage Relocation Services, which is Canada’s oldest and largest national relocation company and the only all-Canadian full-service relocation company. 

STATE-OF-THE-ART PREMISES: The J&D Toronto premises have five warm, elegant client rooms, including a large boardroom for big client presentations and meetings. All other offices offer a professional environment fully equipped with the latest technologies available to the sales team. 

COMMUNITY INVOLVEMENT: J&D gives back to the community both corporately and individually. Some of these Charitable organizations include The Royal LePage Arise Shelter Foundation, The Canadian Breast Cancer Foundation, Habitat for Humanity and Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation Canada. 

J&D OFFICE MEETINGS: J&D holds weekly sales meeting to facilitate the provision of market updates, RECO news and updates, TREB bylaws and updates, new listing communication, corporate and internal information and other topical information often enhanced with expert guest speakers.

IN-HOUSE LEGAL COUNSEL: J&D provides in-house legal support to assist our sales team should they be presented with extraordinary complex legal issues or require a legal opinion for any of their transaction. 

IN-HOUSE PRINT & DESIGN SERVICES: J&D provides our sales team with the support of a state-of-the-art marketing center manned by a team of marketing professionals. The marketing center provides high-quality, professional marketing materials to assist in the promotion and marketing of listings. 

IN-HOUSE MORTGAGE BROKER SERVICES: J&D provides in-house mortgage brokerage support to our sales team along with mortgage services for our clients. This in-house support ensures our sales team are up-to-date on current interest rates, financial market trends and general mortgage information. Our clients are able to enjoy professional guidance, pre-approval and re-financing support. 

IN-HOUSE ADMINISTRATIVE SERVICES: J&D provides our salespeople with a fully staffed administrative team to provide broker-loading services, offer generation, appointment booking, live reception and host of other valuable services.
